Lovemead Group Practice is the largest of the four general practices in Trowbridge. We have seven partners, and three associate doctors, and a practice list size of 16300 patients. Ours is a mixed town and country practice with patients from the whole social and economic range, although most of our patients live in Trowbridge itself. Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire with a total population of around 40000 people. We have been in our purpose-built surgery since 1992 which includes 10 consulting suites, a large meeting room and a suite of nurses’ rooms which incorporates a minor surgery operating room. A dispensing chemist is an integral part of the building and we work closely with the pharmacy staff. The practice is fully computerised and uses TPP System One clinical system. We are a paper-light practice with reports from hospitals being scanned into the patient record and ICE. The Practice provides all essential and additional services and those enhanced services commissioned by NHS Wiltshire. We have nurse led chronic disease clinics and an emergency triage system led by prescribing nurses. We have large primary care psychology team based in the practice .We also have a private room used by complementary therapists, physiotherapists and an osteopath. The practice enjoys an extremely friendly working atmosphere with a low staff turn over and pleasant working conditions. We started as a training practice in 1993 and the current trainers are Dr J Harden and Dr E Reece, although all members of the practice are committed to training. The partners have wide and varied areas of expertise (including dermatology, palliative care, current LMC chair, drug misuse and coil insertions)which they are keen to pass on to the trainees. Our practice ethos is to provide high clinical care to our patients within a friendly working environment. We believe that a trainee allocated here would receive an excellent introduction to primary care and would feel prepared and trained to become an independent GP. |
