Tel: 01225 427402 or 461260 No. 18 Surgery GP Vocational Training We are a friendly group of 6 GPs, based in a large converted Victorian house with wonderful views of the city centre of Bath. We are conveniently situated to the three city hospitals and all local amenities, including theatres, cinemas, sports facilities and the Spa. Most of our patients are based in the southern half of the city including a number of Nursing Homes. The practice has been continually involved in teaching since the 1980s and has considerable experience in helping Registrars achieve their MRCGP. We also teach Medical Students and F2 doctors. All the partners and various other members of the team give tutorials and are enthusiastic to share their special interests, e.g. minor surgery and coil/implant fitting. We provide our own supervision for out-of-hours experience, at BEMS based at the RUH which covers only Bath and its environs. The staff enjoy having registrars and make the surgery a welcoming place to work. Our Registrars attend the Day Release Course at the Royal United Hospital, one of the most successful and popular in the country. Services offered to our 7,000 patients include minor surgery, travel clinics, childhood immunisations and Health Surveillance, ante and post natal clinics, chronic disease management (hypertension, asthma and diabetes), physiotherapy, and counselling. Drug Misuse Counsellors from the Community Drug Service run sessions at our surgery. Our full-time Practice Manager is responsible for a team of Practice Nurses, receptionists and administrators. In addition we have a full team of attached staff, including District Nurses, Health Visitors, Midwives and a Community Matron. We have a well-organised library, with video making and viewing facilities. The Registrar has a dedicated room for his or her surgeries. Our computer network is fully integrated with the internet and NHS net, and we use the increasingly popular TPP Systmone clinical software which is intuitive and comprehensive.
