The Practice:
Rush Hill & Weston has been a well established training practice for many years. We focus on holistic patient-centred care and have a list size of approximately 6000 patients. The whole Primary Health Care Team has been involved in the teaching and training of GP registrars and provides an invaluable resource.
Both surgeries offer excellent facilities: The modern purpose built Rush Hill Surgery and the Victorian Weston Surgery. Our registrars have their own spacious room and are mainly working from one surgery, allowing excellent continuity of care.
We use the highly structured Synergy software which is helping us to provide a patient-centred and problem orientated approach. It is also helps us to achieve excellent QOF results. The practice has been paperless for many years and is using Choose & Book and electronic pathology requesting.
We offer all essential NHS services and also offer additional services such as counselling, physiotherapy and osteopathy.
Training:
The surgery has a long tradition of GP training. It is an essential part of our practice and is supported by all members of the Primary Health Care team. We are providing high quality education complemented by a comprehensive clinical experience. The teaching involves joint surgeries, regular tutorials, video analysis of surgeries and protected teaching time. The registrar is well integrated into the clinical team. As we are a small practice we are able to provide very close support and are able to address the registrar’s individual needs.
Our ST3 trainees also take part in the Bath & Swindon Day Release Course which has been very popular for many years.
