All of our partners have areas of special interest including sports medicine, homeopathy, women’s health, mental health, elderly care, gastroenterology, travel health, substance abuse, practice-based commissioning and membership of the local consortium. We have a very active interest in primary care and pharmaceutical trials work and have a dedicated research team. Training at St Chads and Chilcompton St Chads and Chilcompton surgery has a long and proud tradition of training. We have been described as a "flagship training practice" by the Deanery. Our objective is to offer the trainee a sound and broad "real life" apprenticeship in general practice in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment. We receive consistently excellent feedback from our previous trainees. We are proud to boast that no registrar from St Chads has ever failed the MRCGP and many have received distinctions. Within the last 5 years we have broadened and increased our training capacity to include medical students, F2, ST1, 2 and 3 trainees and GPs returning to practice after time out. Building alterations made to the St Chads site in 2010 enable us to take up to 3 trainees at a time. All of our trainers are passionate about primary care education. All offer different teaching styles and approaches; a trainee at St Chads can expect to receive tutorials and educational input from all three as well as from other members of the PHCT. We feel strongly that training should be undertaken in a safe and supportive environment and will ensure that all trainees feel confident that they have senior clinical cover at all times. Our pragmatic and sensible approach to training ensures that all trainees leaving St Chads and Chilcompton Surgery will be ready and able to cope with whatever their future career in general practice holds.
